Trio top N-level exams

Three students shared the top honour in this year's Normal (Academic) examinations, with a perfect score of six points each.
They are: Pheeraphat Chew from Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road), Yuhanis Kadis from Bedok Green Secondary and Hazel Cheok from Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School.They got straight As in English and their best five best subjects.
A total of 18,504 students sat for the N-level exams this year, the results for which were released on Friday. Of the 6,301 Normal (Technical) students who took the exams, 97.2 per cent passed.
Among the larger cohort of 12,203 students who sat for the Normal (Academic) exams, 99.3 per cent passed and 77.1 per cent or 8,677 of them qualified for the Secondary 5 N(A) course. There is no significant difference between this year's and the previous year's results.
About 1,100 N(A) students did well enough to progress to the Secondary 5 N(A) course without taking the N-levels. They were selected based on their performance in school.
