FOR Sheldon Tan, getting impressive grades is a family tradition. The 11-year-old Rosyth School pupil is one of this year's top Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) scorers.
And his 278 aggregate is the same as his mother's when she was in Primary 6.
His mother Lee Tung Jean, 36, a civil servant who holds a PhD in economics from Oxford University, was among the top PSLE pupils back in 1986. She was also Singapore's top O-level student in 1990, bagging 11 A1s.
Sheldon also has an A* and an A in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for mathematics and additional mathematics, respectively. The IGCSE is an internationally recognised qualification equivalent to the O levels.
Rosyth School produced three top PSLE pupils this year and is the school with the highest number of top scorers.
Sheldon's schoolmate Alex Tan has the highest aggregate of any pupil in Singapore - 282. Also making it to the top pupil list is Cheri Wee, who scored 276.
